  1. for an adult. Mine was 52 bpm this morning. Is this typical for runners? or high or low. From what I
have read 70 to 80 is average for an adult of my age (38) . Thanks....

  2. Mine is 41.

    Normal for an idiot.

Mine is 9.5", sometimes more if she's a real looker.

The heart is a bloody pump. The stronger the pump the more volume it can pump with each heart beat,
so the less it needs to beat.

Remember average is a fiction. If you take one thousand pound rock and a two pound rock, the average
is 501 pounds. I believe that the low range of heart beats from a top athlete can be in the mid
30's. I would put that most conditioned runners will be in their 50's be they 30 years old or 60
    years old.

As long as you are alive, I believe there's nothing to be concerned.

Most of us like to have our heart rates in the 50's or 40's, a good sign of our condition

    google: "Athletic Heart Syndrome."

The average resting heart rate of rec.running readers is probably 15bpm lower than that of the
general population. TBR would probably say the same applies to our IQs, but I prefer to think that
    we're all just "special." ;-)

    -Dave (but seriously, 52 is just fine, and well within the variation one would expect. Mine's 37;
some of my runner friends go as high as 60).

    Pier,

This is a normal response for someone who chooses not to contribute, and rather chooses to demean
    another person.

Interesting choice of a pseudo-sig. I have no idea the reason or purpose of this individual in
responding. It could be anything from a research study to observe behavioral reactions of
individuals on rec.running to someone projecting their anger onto others. It could be someone with a
sense of humor or someone looking to get negative attention.

What we do know is that we'll never know the person behind the persona.

Often if people can't literally kill you, they will attempt to kill your ideas or assassinate your
character. If you stay around rec.running long enough, you'll know those who contribute and those
    who don't.

First off he's a troll, and a very poor liar too. I contribute a great deal, but if you don't read
my posts you couldn't know that. I demeaned an idiot.

Once again I've given tons of info about myself, but I strongly suspect you are one of those who
ignores my posts, yet says I do not contribute.

Your heads inserted squarely in your [censored], isn't it? How the hell can you get from newsgroup posts
to "he's someone who'd kill you in real life" ? Are you that bent and twisted? WTF did your mother
    do to you?

Right you are, which is why I generally ignore this buttheads posts, nothing but BS disguised as
"folklore". And instead of maintaining the faqs like a responsible person does, he insists on
clogging up the NG a few times a week with 150 pages of stupid gibberish, in the small chance
that a newbie will tune in that day, or go back a whole week in the archives. And you [censored] me?

It wasn't the running that tipped me off, it was that half-sized school bus that used to pick you up
    for school.

Mine's usually in the 30s. Age 75 with about 25 years running history, always mid- to back-of-pack.

I am 38 and my sitting-at-my-desk heart rate is 38-42. I would suspect it is lower just when I wake
up. 70-80 sounds like an HR when you are walking briskly.

  13. I checked Q&A manz and came up with only 2 post on rec.running.

I'm sure you give tons of information about yourself, however I don't know who you are since it
looks like you change your signature quite often

I continue to believe in the statement: All conversations are with myself, they just happen to
involve other people most of the time.

Also I believe that we project our anger and other emotions on others rather than deal with them
    within ourselves.
