WD40 on pedals??

WD40 shouldn't go near a bike unless its very carefully on a thread, to loosen it up.

I think I would try a little bearing grease first if I was going to do this at all. The big thing is that you don't want the pedal to back out on you, but your doctor would love you if it did. if it ia always happening in the same spot in the rotation, it could also be your bottom bracket.

Same problem with my Look Keo's 🙁 .... I opened them up with plyers (be carefull or you'll ruin the thread) and greased them up.

However, that procedure has not completely silenced them ... I believe the release springs (or other parts in that area) are also responsible for some cracking noises .. I'm going to lightly grease that, also.

I have Look 296 pedals. It's actually pretty loud (i.e. embarrassing) when riding next to someone. I'll take a look at the springs. Thanks

I sprayed a bunch of lube in my pedal last night and hopefully when I get home that noise will be magically gone. I noticed that it started happening after I did a century in torrential rain. My bike was soaked all day.

A few months ago, my bottom bracket was loose and made a "clack" sound as I hit the same place in the rotation when turning my crank. I took it in to the dealer, and a quick lube and tightening fixed that problem.

Then again, it's just possible the bearings have had it.
