  1. Here's how my schedule looks these days
    M: run 45 min
    Tu: weights
    W: run 45 min
    Th: weights
F: varies depending on my half marathon schedule.
Weekend: off. Can't do runs due to child care commitments etc.

Anyhow, my question is, on Tuesdays I attend a weights class in my
gym. The instructor takes it to the max and my legs are sore even on
Wednesday which is my running day. I always wonder if I should be
running at all on Wednesdays. I can still do the 45 min run
comfortably but would I be overworking the leg muscles? What muscles
    does running use?

If I take Wednesday off then I'm left with only 2 running days and I
don't like that. I also want to keep 2 weight training days in my
schedule. Should I do M-Tu-W running and Th-F weights?

    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Yes.

No. Look at it this way -- if you work out *really* hard, even walking up (or
worse, down) stairs hurts -- but this walking certainly does not overwork your
leg muscles, and you will not recover any more slowly as a result of this
walking. Rather, your legs feel stiff because of the work you did in the
    previous workout.

So as long as you keep the pace easy you'll be fine. (shouldn't be a problem --
you just won't feel like running hard)

    Mostly legs, glutes, core.

No. That really would result in muscles being overworked.

  3. I have a similar workout schedule Weights M(body/arms), W(legs/core),
F(body/arms) run Tu, Th, Fri night, Sat morning, Sun Night. I will admit
some sat morning runs are not as great as others but over the last 2
months I have seen my per mile time drop as my distance has slowly
increased. I have found a little bit extra sleep and stretching with a
diet favoring healthy choices seems to keep me from feeling over used in
    the legs.

Right now I am running Tuesday and Thursday at lunch and again after
work to help really stress my legs to get ready for a relay race at the
    end of the month.

    I Hope this helps.
