From accounts seen elsewhere it was wet, very wet. Quite a few people
abandoned due wet/cold/mechanical problems. Helen wafflycat of this
parish was one of that last category.

It was my first. The atmosphere was great and I'm glad I did it but
probably wouldn't again in weather like that. Actually the last third
was dry.

I seem to be spending nearly as much time sorting out the bike and kit
after the event as before. I still need to write a snottogram to
Suffolk council on road surfaces.

I think I'd go for incredibly wet ... Wetness of the "I'm going to wring
my socks out once I've finished this cup of soup" nature!

I'll doubtless do another Dunwich Dynamo in the future, but it'll depend
upon how my "long weekends" at work fall as to when it'll happen.

I abandoned at the halfway stage since it had pretty much rained
non-stop from about an hour into the ride, and I had nothing else dry
left to wear. The rain came through both rain jackets. My house is 30
miles from Gt Waldingfield, so I decided to cut short and get home and
into the bath.

Bike took a real hammering from all the road dirt and I'm going to
(partially) dismantle it to clean it properly.

However, in spite of the rain, I thoroughly enjoyed it all (my first),
and am already thinking about what I am going to do differently next
year, starting with not having a bike that weighs two tonnes with a load
of unnecessary gear in panniers, that just got wet and gained even more
weight.

I started about 8:45 and got there at 7 - was very wet. Even good
quality goretex only lasted about 3 hours.

It rained pretty much all the way. We were the first on the road at 8pm
(at least, we didn't see anyone else) and the rain started at Fyfield,
only 25 miles out. Those leaving London Fields at 9pm faced rain pretty
much all the way, although I think it stopped at around 5am, when I
would have expected to finish - the late finishers would have got a bit
of sun in the morning.

I packed at Finchingfield, being ill-equipped for such conditions (no
mudguards or waterproofs).

The weather forecast on Friday said it would be dry, on Saturday said it
would be wet, at 3pm on Saturday said it would be dry, then after I'd
left, they decided it would hiss it down after all.

I'm not buying a train ticket in advance next year.
