I kinda took it with a grain of salt to begin with. The story
said something to the effect "ramshakle hut" but the picture they
showed is what appears to be a typical, even slightly upscale,
food court in a shopping district.

Or perhaps you got hit by link wrap. Add the ".html" back on the end and
it works fine.

The link works just fine, when it is broken over 2 lines like this you
have to combine the parts so that the ".html" part comes right after the
"index" part:
