It's a Chinese food, balls about an inch across, made from a thin layer of glutinous rice dough around a hard ball of crushed peanuts and sugar. They get laid in a little row of about five on a piece of oiled bamboo leaf and steamed, and are eaten hot while the dough is sticky and stretchy like mochi.
Has anyone come across these, what they are called, and how they're made?
I found some recipes for boiled ones made by repeatedly wetting the core and dusting it when wet in layers of glutinous rice flour, but they don't seem to be the same thing at all. The ones that I'm thinking of have a skin about a tenth of an inch thick.
