Actually, Philly being the murder capital of the U.S.A. for the time being,
why isn't the mayor tending to the business of managing the problems at hand?

Get real. How many hours a day does he work? How much vacation time does he
get? So what if he took some leisure time for personal reasons. He is
allowed, just like most of us, to take some time off for vacation, personal
days, etc. Unless you know his schedule you can't say he is goofing off, or
just taking a deserved break. For all we know, he is out patrolling the
streets tonight to prevent murders. Mayors of large cities do a lot of
nights in the office or otherwise at odd hours doing the business of the
city.

OB Food: I took an hour off from work this afternoon to go buy a couple of
briskets. Like the Mayor, I had both my personal phone and my company phone
with me. Yes, I'm paid for this time on salary.

While that's true, you should understand his history as mayor, which makes
this appear to me AND others as adding insult to injury.

in line could have simply ordered an iPhone online or went later that
evening and walked right into a store to buy one. By waiting in line
from 3:00am - 6:00pm, the mayor showed quite clearly how poorly he

I went to an Apple store in the Philadelphia suburbs around 7:00 on
Friday night after work to check out the iPhone. The store was packed
and they had people waiting to get in the store, but the wait was only a
minute or two.

Despite what tons of people who know me are expecting, I will not be
buying an iPhone in the foreseeable future. If I had wanted to buy an
iPhone, I wouldn't have waited at all. Only idiots wait in line for
hours on end when they could simply go about their normal routine and
wait for the crowds to thin out. The Apple store where I went easily had
100 iPhones behind the cash register and who knows how many in the stock
room.

By the way, I played around with two iPhones on Friday; one at the Apple
store and one at a nearby AT&T store. Its an impressive device, but not
worth the price Apple is charging and the Internet service is kind of
slow. I even used the one in the Apple store to call my call phone. If I
wanted an iPhone, I would wait a few months for the second generation to
appear on store shelves.

will last if the iPhone is used for other things such as listening to

Taking away the 9-5 stick that seemed to be up the civil servant's
butt.... don't you think both her complaint and him waiting in line
was just part of the publicity? I do. Steve Wozniak (apple
co-founder) was in line too. We know he didn't need to wait. He
probably got as many as he wanted months ago (free).

Not interested, thanks.

I don't own an IPod or an MP3 player and I haven't gone over to a
blackberry (called Crackberries by those who have them). In fact, I
think that unless a company is paying the monthly charges (talk AND
internet services) - it's too expensive to justify.

ability to download ringtones only recently (though I doubt I can do
it with my mororola v60) and it was a big shock to see Blackberry as

United States. They keep coming out on top whenever cellular services
are reviewed in national publications such as the Wall Street Journal
and Consumer Reports. The down side is that Verizon Wireless is almost
always the most expensive carrier. AT&T gets fair reviews and their
rates are much more reasonable than Verizon Wireless, but for people who
do a lot of national travel, you just can't beat Verizon Wireless.

AT&T has the iPhone because they were willing to work with Apple to set
up services on the device that no other cellular phone carrier would
support such as the iPhone's new voicemail feature. In return, AT&T got
a five year exclusive deal on the iPhone, so all the other cellular
carriers have to wait five years before they can offer the iPhone.

Toss up, from my experience. I have both a Cingular (ATT) and a Verizon
phone. I was going to switch to Verizon for my personal phone but it does
not work in my house. Cingular does. Cingular allows me to use it in
Europe, Verizon does not.

Verizon Push to Talk works better at our warehouse, Cingular works better at
our plant (we are 100 feet from the cell tower). Five miles out of Pahrump,
NV, neither worked. Most of my other travels, I've not seen a big
difference. Both cost too much.
