The part I'm enquiring about is the bushing that fits into the Ergo's thumb lever onto which the end flat coil spring is fitted.
I have Chorus 2001 9-speed Ergos. The bushing in this lever is part number EC-RE251 - see www.campagnolo.com/pdf/spares01-A.pdf page 32 (near top right).
This Chorus bushing is the type with large plain screwdriver flats (despite Zinn's instructions saying they're only in the 10-speed versions). I find it a right [censored] to hold down and keep in place while getting the spring wound up and the whole thing done, etc. I know about rotating it "just so" but it pops out of place all too easily.
I understand other models including Mirage use a different bushing which can take a hex key. One of these would make life much easier as the key could be used to hold it down without slippage. Is this type compatible with my Chorus Ergo? Or does the diameter or something else make it incompatible?
Campagnolo don't include the Mirage bushing part number on their diagrams for some strange reason (at least from 2001 to 2004). If it is compatible, what is the part number and is it available to buy?

Take the brake lever off and use a allen in the front, pushing up on the thru bolt when you put it together. Also 'shift' the shifter all the way up to remove the spring tension of the woundup spring as much as possible. You can use a flat small screw driver inside the bushing to find the flats. The bushing for Mirage works the same-

Doesn't work for me. I understand the Mirage bushing is different and takes an allen key which would make the job easier. The Chorus bushing does not.
