  1. Requested : Beans (Navy)
Beans (Navy) I would like a delicious recipe for cooking navy beans in a
    crock pot.

    Mom's Navy Beans

1 small package dry navy(pea) beans
4 smoked ham hocks (get meaty ones)
    1 large onion, chopped
    Salt and Pepper

Soak beans in water overnight. Drain. Put in a sauce pan with new water,
and 1 tsp baking soda. Heat to boiling. Simmer for 10 minutes. Watch
closely because this cooks some of the "gas" out of the beans, and it can
run over. Drain again, and rinse. Put hocks in crock pot first. Add beans
and onion. Cover with water. Add 1 tsp. each of salt and pepper. You can
add more salt later to taste. Hocks may be salty, so wait until beans
    cook.
Cook on high for 6 hours, or low for up to 12 hours. Remove hocks, and
pull apart. Put only the meat from the hocks back into the beans. Serve.
