  1. Steven is cooking today. He asked me what I want for Father's Day dinner.
I hadn't given it any forethought and know it's probably too late to get
the the fish guy's place for real nice, thick swordfish steaks. I told him
to find *FRESH* sword steaks or have a couple of 1/2 to 3/4 inch
porterhouse or T-bone steaks cut at Straub's. He just looked at me like I
was putting him on the verge of bankruptcy. I'm going to Eckert's today to
see what I can find for veggies and fruit. I'm hoping for some really big
tomatoes. Sooooo... It'll be fish or steak, giant baked potatoes with sour
cream and a few snips of chive from the garden. A plate of sliced tomatoes
(if I can find them) and most like grilled cabbage, stuffed or not.
Dessert will be fruit. It's sort of like I'll be eating tonight what can
be found today. What's eveyone else doing tonight?

me too, well stuff found that looks good and is fresh. Not stuff found
while looking in the canned or frozen aisles.

Probably some pork steak grilled rubbed with granulated red onion powder
and granulated garlic served with some wedges of zucchini grilled and
brushed with Italian Salad dressing that has a dash of maggi sauce in it.
And a nice chuck it together salad (assorted salad stuff that strikes my
fancy, looks good and is priced right (might contain almost anything from
diakon to green apple). Dressed with a ranch dressing.

Probably some steaks unless we end up being out all day. NY is the
    favored cut around here.

We have cake for dessert either way. Resident dad requested cake long
ago so it has been baked, filled and frosted.

Steven shouldn't be cooking. Your kids should cook for you today.
Tell them to get over to your house pronto and bring the food with
them. Whatever it is they cook, you'll eat with love. It's your day!

I bet they don't have them yet, but Hartke's has fresh grown tomatoes

I'm going to cut my hubby's hair and then we'll probably do some tacos. We
cooked a picnic last night. No other plans.

They are both in Chicago. I guess I should say the one that lives in St.
Louis is visiting the one that lives in Chicago. And yes, Steven SHOULD
cook for me today. If you only knew the aggravating amount of minutiae
I've had to deal with for two weeks... grrrrr... He brought home 2
porterhouse steaks to grill tonight. Decent sized, about 1+ inch thick.
I still haven't decided what to cook with. It's too damned hot to worry
    about right now.

No grilling for me today. I was thinking either spaghetti or tacos. I have

No grilling here, either. I think every dinner this week was
from the grill. No complaints, mind you. But, it's getting warm
so we decided to go eat somewhere air conditioned.

Went to this place that has very good Italian food. I ordered,
get this, Pork Chop Murphy. I know. This was the best
pork chop I ever had in my life. So good I even finished it off
by picking it up and knawing the bone. I didn't care what anyone
    thought. So good.

For dessert, hazelnut cheesecake. That was outstanding too.
    Glad we went.

We're in Chicago also and it's too hot to do a pork roast inside so we've
    got this http://groups.google.to/group/rec.food.recipes/msg/93b7a7e08bd67ff6
going in a hammered aluminum dutch oven over indirect heat on our natural
gas grill outside. Don't care to get into a "discussion" about the pros and
cons of gas grills but I will say it's nice to have an outside oven when
    it's 90+ degrees outside.

With this thread you talked me into it... wonderful burgers... ground
up from two fresh never frozen boneless chuck steaks, a total of 3
pounds, which was just right for four 12oz burgers. Two burgers hit
the freezer, two hit the grill. I didn't prepare anything else so it
really wasn't as much as it seems, especially not with 6 famished cats
that have been pacing ever since I brought out that cow... adn besides
my two mugs of black coffee this morning that's all I ate today, been
toiling away with my gardening. My burger (actually a chopped steak)
was hanging over a very undersized roll.. brought out the ketchup but
then changed my mind, just salt n' pepper. The cats have been
nibbling away for two hours now and there's still some in their
bowls... but cats need to nap between gorgings... I guarantee that
tomorrow morning those bowls will be licked so clean I wont need to
wash them. Big, rare, juicy burgers... was goooood! I'm sitting here
burping and sipping a gin n' tonic.

Mine is getting there. 8 (I think) smokers and/or grills. Several of them
can be and are used as ovens. Even @ different temperatures at the same
time (partly the reason for so many).

The sink is there, but with cold water only, so far.

Couple of counters and cabinets, but *not* where they will end up. The
'fridge will stay inside, to avoid redundancy, and to keep operating costs
    down.

    BOB
with 2 grills and a smoker burning now (all wood/charcoal, no gas)

If I had to choose only one meal to eat every day it would be
burgers. I usualy have mine with onions, either raw, grilled, or

I'm with you on the last meal choice. Do you always use chuck? I don't
think I've ground any other kind of meat for burgers in a couple of
years. To me both round, sirloin and chuck all have subtley different
flavors. I have always enjoyed chuck the most when it comes to burgers
    and chilli.
