The top of the GC has turned into a doping farce. At the top, well, there's the saying, "There's something rotten in Denmark..." Then we have the members of the Disco doping brigade, who come on the boil just at the right time.
I think there is only one rider to pull for, and that's Soler going for the polka dots. He may be doping too, but he and his team certainly don't have the resources to purchase the kindof juice the others are on.

Jealous that the T-Mobile doping brigade and all the other doping brigades can't get the results? Remember the Dauphine when both Contador and Leipheimer said that they were out of condition and were trying to peak by the third week of the Tour? This from Leipheimer's experience with peaking too early last year?
Yeah, a South American comes roaring out of nowhere, beating top climbers that you think are doping, and you think he may be clean. Do you actually work at being that retarted?

jeez, saluki, do you have to be so contentious? if I wanted to be a pebble in your shoe I could come back to every one of your pro disco comments and say something like, oh well, levi's comments were simply premeditated pr justifications for their plan of being doped to the gills duing the final week of the tour. all part of the master plan. but i wouldnt just say that just to be a pain in the you know what. bro deal's thread is a welcomed one. cmon, you have to give props to soler, a maverick, going for bust on a wild card team, not intimidated by the hierarchy of the peloton. everything doesnt have to have a tmobile vs disco angle.
I think all the top riders dope including Soler. Since I think they all dope, I don't let the doping affect who I like/don't like. The people I don't understand are the ones who throw reason aside and continue to insist that their favorite riders are clean, i.e. the Aussie contingent for Evans, Disco lovers, Brits for Wiggins and Millar, etc...
That said, I'd love to see Soler take another stage and he's been a great addition to this tour and has added a lot of excitement. It's great to see new riders unafraid to ride with the big boys. Today was the best stage I've seen in years, probably since pre-Armstrong. I'm sad to see Vino down. He's always been such a fighter and animator of the Tour, a true tough man of the sport.
He's just [censored] because I called him out on not making a peep during the Tour until Disco had a good day then he's all over the place. It doesn't look like he's even read a cycling forum since the last Tour--since Disco bit the dog during that one, it may even be the 2005 Tour--because he's stuck on thinking that anyone who says something bad about Disco must be a T-Mobile fan.
Sounds like a philosophical question. Here's the answer. I don't care who you like. You can root for riders I dislike and I won't say anything to you about it. But if your goal here is to bash the people I like, then I'm going to bash the people that you like. If you can't see that Bro Deal and White Trash and a few others go way out of their way to score points against Disco; that they repeat this day after day, dozens of times a day, then you are blind. I have a right to like whoever I want. And I have a right not to have a bunch of buttheads putting down my favorites as a continous, boring, and endless stream. Just take a close look at the [censored] they pull. "Oh, a chance to bash Danielson because he rode Mt. Evans", "Contador is the son of Fuentes", "Contador is as dirty as Rasmussen", "Riders aren't attacking now because they are clean. Armstrong's Disco attacked because they were dirty". I mean the sheer stupidity of their manufactured excuses to hate Disco is astounding. So yes, I intend to be just as contentious as they are. But don't worry, it won't be long before limerickman kicks me off. He's part of the whole sick cabal - and he defends them by throwing out anyone that challenges their Disco bashing playground.

ok, saluki. I can see your point of view but why take it so personally? of course, you have the right to like whomever you wish and others have the right to rib on riders of their choosing. its no different than any other sport and their rivalries. I will admit I am more sympathetic to their points b/c I lean than way too. but i think we all should be realistic and not so fanatic as to say my team is better and my team is clean and your team sucks and is the dirties in the peloton, etc etc etc., that is just lame and lacks forethought. if you said something like, 'yeah LA was the master at doping and disco is as dirty as any other but look at their results' give as good as you get and come back at these posts in that way, then more props to you. you have to be self aware, I would say. otherwise if you just blindly defend disco and bring up a tired tm v disco debate than youre just baiting others, and expect to be harrassed. its just too easy. respectfully 🙂
and others have the right to rib on riders of their choosing.
Ribbing is good natured Klodifan. Look carefully. There is nothing good natured about the perpetual attacks on Disco. It's petty and mean spirited to the nth degree. And if you give these guys the same thing that they are dishing out, they take it personally very quickly.

hi, saluki. all I'll say is that i hope you dont just leave or think youll get the boot from the mods just b/c of your minority opinion. I appreciate opinions different from my own. I will even hushly admit that I actually enjoy doc's posts, but he probably knows that too. how boring it would be if all the posts were the same. 🙂

while i'm not a huge disco fan, i would agree with his assertion that the attacks on disco are generally more vicious than those on other teams. and anyone who likes them is treated like an idiot. 🙄

When you hire Ivan Basso after his involvement in Puerto, it's the same as saying " we tolerate doping". How are we to ever believe anything else after that?

Not to mention they have consistently sided along with the other "we tolerate doping" teams in the political struggles taking place. And then the great irony of T-Mobile getting hit by Sinkewitz. Sometimes life just ain't fair.
Basically, Disco = USPS/Bruyneel, Astana = T-Mob/Godefroot. Why should anyone expect that anything would have changed on the doping front? They know what needs to be done to be successful, and they know how to do it (especially in Bruyneel's case, as he's looking for a sponsor). So we end up with three or four Disco riders and three or four Astana's in the top ten of nearly every key stage.
Right now on GC, there are 4 Disco riders, 3 Astana's, and 5 Caisse riders before the first French rider (Chavanel in 32nd, right behind, ahem, Hincapie), and Fofonov in 30th on GC, is the highest placed rider on a French team.
Nothing's changed. As long as the Bruyneels and Godefroot's et al. still rule, the Tour will remain at two speeds.

At the point where he was hired no involvement had been proven. And the investigation on him had been halted. Mr. 60% would have kept him if he could have found a way. So beyond Disco and Astana, what about T-Mobile hiring Gonchar and Mazzolini - guys with known dubious records. What about Saunier hiring Ricco after he had tested at over 50% three times. What about Caisse going to bat for Valv-Piti? Do you hate all the teams except the French? And how do you know that Moreau wasn't doping for the Dauphine. Especially if all the guys he beat were suppose to be dopers.

That would be the trendy anti-American crowd, comical how Discovery have one of the most international list of riders and these riders are usually competitive all year but Chicken only shows his ability for a few weeks in July.
