I keep breaking freewheels (Shimano Y3A398020). I'm up to my 3rd one in as many weeks but the original one from when the bike was new lasted 7 months. I think it's because I'm too heavy & my leg strength has reached a critical mass in the last month or so for what the part was designed for. Is there something stronger I can replace it with?
They seem to pop when I'm ascending steep bits of trail, particularly if I give it everything I've got to hop over a log or something.

[censored] freehubs are [censored]. Get a Hugi 240.
Buying cheap components over and over, or trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear is pointless.
Not maybe, it is time.

JD is right here. Most everyone has come to this realization that the cheap bike they bought to get into mountain biking is no longer adequate for their new riding abilities. I now have a bike whose rear hub costs as much as my whole first bike ($260). While you don't have to go that far, I have a whole lot less trouble with my bike now and spend more time riding. Now I mostly replace wear items like brake pads, tires and shifter cables/housings. I rarely break stuff.
