Hmm - Wonder why I have trouble getting out all of the ingredients with all my rubber spatulas. I noticed that problem the other day when I had trouble getting out the mango puree is what prompted me to ask. It is particularly annoying when I don't have a lot of ingredients to remove from the bowl, and half of it is left in the bowl.
Weird, ours came with a hard, narrow spatula. Granted, I don't usually dig it out of the drawer but our did come with one. It's white, hard plastic (no rubbery spatula part) and about 1 1/2" wide at the blade end. In red on the handle is printed vitamix.com and their 800 number.

My machine must be showing its age -- I received a wooden dowel shaped rod with a smaller cross piece dowel through the top end that serves as a stop quide to keep it clear of the blades. It's meant to keep food moving though, not for clearing the container.

Too bad they (apparently) changed from the all stainless, nearly-square containers which are very easy to empty and clean. I just pour hot water into mine and turn it on to clean it.

Too bad they (apparently) changed from the all stainless, nearly-square containers which are very easy to empty and clean. I just pour hot water into mine and turn it on to clean it.
Mine is nearly square, too, but it is the grooves that is a killer. Ingredients seem to go right into the grooves and they have to be scraped out individually.
I,too, just pour hot water (and a bare drop of soap) into mine and turn on. (Hold they ears!) Dee
