  1. I have not in the past gotten into reading blogs; there are too many
of them and most are interesting or informative only on occasion. But
Google is changing my habits. Google Reader allows you to subscribe
to the feed of your favorite blogs all in one place, and organize
them. Then, it picks up the feed of the blogs and displays the title
of new entries, allowing you to click on the ones of interest and be
taken to the site. This way, you can go to one place, the Reader
in-box, and see if there is anything new and interesting at any of
your designated sites instead of hopping all over the web to check
    each site individually.

Most of the blogs I'm tracking are food-related. 🙂

    are you still using it?

I think I know what you're doing there...

I didn't like each topic in a new browser (outside of the reader)

it was more like a pre-reader? but a good way to manage groups

I'm still using it, it's new. Google Reader (bad name because of
confusion with "newsreader"😉 is not for newsgroups. It's for
websites, esp. blogs and news sites. It works with those which have
an RSS feed, which most seem to.

(Speaking of Google Groups, did they elinate the "view as a tree"
    option?)

Opera does that, too, as do many rss readers. Of course, I still
don't have time to keep up with all the great blogs out there, but
    it helps.

There are actually Google blogs worth reading?

    No thanks, I'll pass.

-Copying Bloglines and other RSS receivers, Google Reader allows you to
see which of worldwide blogs you choose have new material. They aren't
Google blogs, but really, why the superior attitude? Google offers to
people who do not have disposable money a version of what there is on
the internet. Why should anyone do without because he lives on
retirement or is a poor student, or paying off medical bills? Isn't
    that disproportionately selfish?

Many applications (such as Thunderbird and Firefox)have RSS built in and
then it is running on your computer instead of Google.

Its Googles version of an RSS reader. That function is already built in
to many programs now which allows you to do it yourself. The problem I
have with Googles version is that it is helping them with their mission
to compile as much information as they possibly can about everyone.

And since Google seems to be the #1 spammers friend with googlegroups
and their blogspot there is even less reason to want to use it.

However, I'm more annoyed that IT will be placing "tracking our
    assets" software on our laptops.

It's really too bad that clueless people don't see what's
happening. Unfortunately it's the majority, and the government
loves keeping people scared and happy at the same time.

I just want some of them Stepford Pills.
