because it apparently contains a toxin similar to that in pufferfish? A
delicacy in some countries such as China and Japan, but more like playing
Russian Roulette with your dinner. No thanks on imported fish bought this
month!
And throwing that out is obviously a first step, the second
being not buying it again--if the provenance is known. I
guess we in the US do have labeling on fish (at least I THINK
I read that), but what about the products that are not
labeled? Or those that say "manufactured in the US" (or some
other country), but we have no idea where the ingredients come
from? Or products that contain several ingredients? I don't
think it is easy to avoid these things, like some have
indicated.

There have been toothpaste recalls, as well. Are you familiar with the
product? 😉 di-ethyline glycol was used in place of glycerine in toothpaste
to make it thicker and "glisten". So far no one is owning up to importing
toothpaste from China. Still, no thanks. Baking soda, salt & water work
just fine.

Okay. I'm looking for pics or elaboration.
One pic shows Mr. Cool. An article mentions that and Excel.
It also contains the worrying statement that Chinese
toothpaste manufacturers say a small amount of diethylene
glycol in toothpaste is safe. BUT WTF is it doing there in
the first place? The answer: it is a low-cost substitute for
glycerin. (Just ignore the fact that is can be deadly!)
The FDA (!) claims no contaminated toothpaste is in this
country, and yet they have stopped shipments and are testing....
