Apology upfront. I know this will step on the toes of a few well known OT grumblers. Sorry. ๐
I use news.individual.net for newsgroups. Today when I logged into Thunderbird, all of my newsgroups downloaded with new threads except for RFC. The last message I received from RFC was Christine D's thread about the NM cook-in (wish I could be there).
I resubscribed to Road Runner newsgroups to see if there were other threads and *of course* there were.
Anyone else with NIN experiencing the same problem with RFC?

Nope, plenty o' posts today. I'd try a different newsreader with NIN and see if there's a problem still.

Delete the group in Thunderbird and re-subscribe. Your article numbers for the group are probably out of sync.

Yesterday, all of my newsgroups disappeared. I restarted my computer, but the newsgroups were still gone. I had to resub to all of them. This has never happened before.

It must just be you. ;-)
I'm using Tbird version 1.5.0.10 and NIN, with no problems.

Well, it's not just happening over that side of the pond. Same same this side.
One newserver that was quite reliable till just recently........ then nothing. Looking at this thread, I did as others have done and unsubed, then re-subbed. Now it works fine.
Strange.

You labeled it OT; I think that's sufficient, and I'm one of the ones who grumbles about off-topic posts sometimes. If new posts that are off-topic are LABELED that way, I have no beef with them.

I haven's had a problem at all. Not sure why.
I haven't had any issues with NIN. Could've been a corrupted line in the local file on the user's computer (often called a newsrc file) that keeps track of what groups are subscribed to, by server, and which posts within each group have been read.

Yeah, things can happen along those lines. XanaNews has that problem sometimes, and what it does is throw out the information and reload the entire newsgroup (like a month's worth or whatever NIN maintains). Slow, but it fixes whatever the problem is.

All is well!
So...I guess it was an Thunderbird or internal problem. I tried unsubscribing to RFC and resubscribing, but that didn't work. But when I set up an account with NIN in OE all threads were current. I ended up canceling NIN in Tbird and set it up again. Current threads showed up.
I don't delete any posts. Maybe 116,275 is the stop downloading threshold. Won't do that again. ๐
Thanks for all your interest. I was going into RFC withdrawals. I don't post, but I read daily.
