This is going to sound really stupid, but what is the secret to using the gel flasks? I dump my gels
into these things but have a [censored] of a time getting it outa there! Are you suppose to put like 4
packets of them into one flask with a little water to help it to come out or what? What does
everyone else do? I hate eating the gels right from the packet while riding the bike. It takes too
long and I hate carrying the garbage with me. Any thoughts? Mark

Yup, cut the gels with water. Keep the flask angled downward (or at least flat).

be 5 gels worth) and fill the remainder with water. That gives me a consistency that can actually
be squeezed out, yet is not too liquid. The Gu Flasks are smaller, so you'll sort of have to
balance that out. Also, keep them pointed nozzle-down. I have no problem doing this, simply carrying them in my left
hand while running.--

Hammer gel works for me. It get a little thick on colder days. Haven't tried splitting it.
It also significantly cheaper than buying teh single serving stuff. I also use the fuel belt
gel flask. Usually filled 2/3 full as all the way full I start to notice it as heavy and a
bit bouncy on the run. I use a similar flask mounted to a holder on the top tup. Seems to
work up until it's about empty then it takes a bit to start flowing. Not a huge problem on
the bike though.~Matt

That is a *great* idea! You weren't being sarcastic were you, because I'm actually serious 🙂

NO, I have been doing it for years. I am serious and would not think of passing info I thought was
not worth considering. I often mix Metabolol with coffee to make a gu and put it in my bottles.Ken
