I can't speak for Avanti, but usually you can light the range, but not the oven.

When I bought my new gas range a few years ago, I didn't realize how nice it would have been to get one that had the raised "grates" (not sure what to call them, but they're what the pans "sit" on over the flames) all the way across the entire flat surface of the range. Instead, I bought one that has the raised "grates" just right over the burners. With the full-surface grates, the pans can go anywhere on top of the range. I hope I've made sense with my description?
If there's no electricity, one can manually light the stove top burners with a match or lighter, but it won't be possible to use the oven because the thermostat and electric oven ignition won't work without the "juice." That is, it's not possible to manually light the oven because the natural gas can't get to it (or something like that!).

Electronic take electricity like you think. If the powers off, yu can't light the oven. You can light the burners with a match or clicker but you usually can't get to the ignitor in the ovens.
