Bakewell Area

My plans were to walk Millers Dale along Chee Dale, but we decided to
no to. According the local news last night the Ladybower Dam
overflowed casuing some flooding along the A6, plus rajn is forecast
FRiday and Saturday. Most roads are passable, if not there are
diversions.

So I woulld keep away from the rivers, try the local BBC Derby Web
site http://www.bbc.co.uk/derby/news/index.shtml for news and road
info.

I am sure someone with 1st hand experience will reply, Fortunately it
is my mates turn to drive this weekend, he has a 4x4!

Well, it was pretty biblical, tbh, although I've been out and as long
as you're prepared to make detours away from some of the immediate
riverside paths like Chee Dale and Water-cum-Jolly then you'll
probably be OK. It was dry yesterday and most of the water has
simply run off.

I go along with that! Walked Chee Dale/Water-cum-Jolly with some
friends when the river was covering the path, and one guy chickened out
of removing socks and paddling, so we had to scramble up a slippery
steep bank. Scared me more than the sunken path. ;-)

I haven't been out but Monyash and Lathkill Dale are one of our favourite
walks. I suspect the river will be high and fast flowing but there are paths
away from the water if it's in flood at the weekend.

Our usual route takes us from Moneyash into Lathkill Dale, along the river
and round to Youlgrave then back to Monyash using the Limestone way.

Crikey, the closest the A6 gets to Ladybower is 9 miles as the Crow flies.
Are you sure you didn't mean the A57 which runs adjacent to Ladybower?

Ladybower feeds the Derwent, which coincides with the A6
at Rowsley. It often floods around Rowsley because that's
where the Wye and Bradford and Lathkill flows also converge.

I should be walking this exact route on Sunday provided it's not
throwing it down. After this rain the water should be shooting out of
Lathkill Head resurgence cave.

water in the dale. It is still passable, however.

My thoughts also. I have walked Lathkill when it's been a dry river
bed, a long time since we watched the fish leaping the weirs.

Doh! As the water flows as opposed to how the crow flies. Looking closer at
my map, I think I've found a nice little walk when the weather improves.

Just seen the local radio weather forecast on their website - very
depressing. Going to can the weekend and return when the weather is
better - probably mid winter.

I'll become slightly comcerned if it is like this for another 5 and a half
weeks. Then I'll styart buying some timber abd animal feed ....
