Hi Folks,
I know diagnosis and medical help are best left to a doctor, but after
an MRI scan the doctor is unable to say anything is up with my knee
and unable to offer any help...
Around 8 years ago I was overweight and unfit. I started going running
everyday, I started with around 1500km and eventually built it up to
around 8k every night. This combined with some sit-ups and press ups
helped me loose 4st and I was quite fit and healthy and felt great!
This lasted for about 2 years, and I stopped running due to a new job
and eventually put weight back on :-/
About 4 years ago I thought it was time to get fit again, and I knew
it was running that helped me loose weight and get fit, so I warmed up
and went out for a short jog, about 2k.
The next day I had the worst pain in my knee ever! The pain came from
the underside of the knee and I couldn't put weight and bend it, like
when walking down the stairs, I had to walk sideways down stairs for
about 4 days! I left it a few months and tried jogging again, but had
the same results 🙁 I went to the doctor and was sent for an MRI
scan, but it proved inconclusive, so as far as the doctor was
concerned, my knee was okay.
I didn't try running again.
I have stayed the same (over)weight now for around 2 years and now I
really want to get fit again. So recently I have been trying to go
jogging. I have been taking it *very* easy, starting off with very
small routes and so far my knee seems okay, yet I can tell *something*
isn't right, and I know if I run any further my knee will hurt again.
I really want to start running again, so I want to try and work around
the problem somehow, hence my post here!
Can anyone suggest why I get this pain?
Are there any routines I can use to warm up with that will reduce it?
Are there any knee supports that can help?
Are there any medications or supplements that can help? Right now I
am just taking multi-vitamins and cod-liver oil capsules.
Thanks in advance!
