  1. Should I do separate swimming, cycling and running training sessions,
or all in one training sessions, i.e.: wearing my swimming costume
to cycle to the heath, dive into a pond- swim a bit and continue
running around the heath? (I've tried this... I think I need a Tri Suit
    - and a big sign saying "I'm not mad, just training for a triathlon"😉

Would recommend posting this in a triathlon forum.

Nearly all of my tri friends do bike/run sessions. They do this to get
a feel for running off the bike. Bike leaves you uniquely dead-legged,
and probably has a sort of pre-exhaustion effect, so it would seem that
there is real value in specificity on this point.

I don't think mixing swimming and running/cycling is as common or essential.

    Cheers,

    Don't do it.

Lets face it Donnikins, you and your pals are wimps, and panty waists.
I can do a 30 or 40 mile bike ride, then run 90 minutes or more
without fatigue or resting between. Biking is for pussys who can't
    handle the cardio running demands.

  8. As a rule, almost all workouts are stand-alone; there are times when
you can do one after the other (e.g., bike-run "bricks"😉 after you get
some time in the three disciplines under your belt, and also depending
    on what your goals are.

There is a forum, I believe, at http://www.trinewbies.com that might
be of use to you; one of the other well-populated tri forums is over
at Slowtwitch.com, though prepare yourself for some misplaced
    "attitude" at times.

It is true that cycling after swimming, and running after cycling feel
vastly different than they do by themselves, so you're in the right
frame of mind in wanting to know what that feels like before you start
racing. However, it can be also taxing on mind, body and time
constraints to double up on workouts...but if you have that luxury of
more time than most, by all means don't be afraid of hopping on your
bike after a swim, or going for a short run after the bike.

Mike C covered the key things there for ya. it does help to have an
outfit you can wear throughout the race, but for most of my earlier
races, i went shirtless for the swim and just threw on a top for the
bike portion. but if you want to keep your transition time down, you
can buy a tri shirt that fits snug and won't create much drag while
swimming. make sure you are really into the sport before you spend
lots of money on gear, though. i made do with what i had, and just few
    extras, for my first races.

and you can make that "I'm not mad, just training for a triathlon"
    sign yourself 🙂
