I've increased the intensity and volume of my training a bit in the
last month or so: longer time on the hills in my long runs, more
speedwork. I seem to be a bit faster and more fluid runner compared
to January - plus, my hill climbing abilities have improved to a
satisfactory level.
However I'm feeling a bit tired and I"d like to take it easy for some
time before continuing with my current workouts. (Which consists of 1
fast, 1 long work out, every other day. I might vary the intensity of
my long workouts depending on tiredness, but my faster paced workouts
are usually done as planned).
Anyway, I'm feeling as though it's time to lay off the gas for some
time, especially since next week I'll be in Athens, which is a
horrible place to run in. I have a 10K mountain race on July 1st, so,
hm, I'd like to take this week easy but without losing any edge - then
I'd have 3 weeks of mild training to go, but without building up much
in volume. My aim is just to complete the race.
I reckon that I'm doing 3Km/day on average. So, I was thinking to
just run for 3km every day while I'm in Athens - I don't want to stay
out for too long each time while there- maybe occasionally going a bit
faster if there's not much smog. Then I'll put in some long hill runs
immediately after I arrive.
Thoughts?
