When I thought I had fractured a rib the doctor ran her fingers down
them, then declared that if she could do that without me screaming in
agony there was nothing wrong me (apart from bruising). She then refused
to give authority for me to have it X-rayed on the basis that if it was
fractured, there was nothing they could do anyway, so there was no point
in finding out.As it turned out she was correct but running downhill was painful for a
couple of weeks.
