The other day I thought I wanted pasta, but I was too lazy, at night, to cook it. Tonight, unless I am too lazy to do so, I am going to heat some garlic bread in the oven and do the same thing with it.

No, but I used to sometimes make up a meat sauce, then cut an italian loaf on the bias, butter the slices, and dunk up the sauce.

I've never done it as you described, but I also often sop up the remaining spaghetti sauce with the garlic bread.
I have had parmesan on had so I made an alfredo sauce and a few times I was too lazy or didn't have pasta at the time, so I just did a fondue thing with sourdough or something.

So imagine my distress when one couple I gave a bottle to later confessed they had used it all simply dobbed on crackers as a nibble with pre-dinner drinks!
Clearly only crass and no class left in the modern world!

Sure. Its been years since I did this, but I used to take a slice of bread, put it on a baking sheet, slather the top with tomato sauce, then add on some meltable cheese and bake it in the oven for a few minutes until the cheese melts. Makes a simple and satisfying pizza style dish for a quick snack or light lunch.
