  1. I was looking at a recipe that mentioned brushing the pork chops with
this sauce. I am not familiar with it, is it a proprietary brand that
perhaps is not available here ? What sort of flavour is it.

    TIA

Go to google.com and type in adobo sauce. Google is your friend. 🙂

Marinade can be many flavors. Adobo means marinade or seasoning. There is
a canned variety with chipotle (smoked jalapeno) in the Mexican food
section here in the USA and what many refer to as Adobo. It is a smoked
jalapeno pepper flavor and usually pretty HOT. That may be what your recipe
has called for. Make your own with whatever you like, or leave it off.

However, it the recipe was for a Philippino pork (or chicken) dish, the
reference to adobo is for a totally different marinade/seasoning.
Philippine adobo is a mixture of chiles, herbs and vinegar. Again, Google
will help but add philippine to the adobo search to get recipes.

Not 100 % correct. The base for Phillipine adobo come from boiling Vinegar and
Soy Sauce in varying rations depending on what part of the country it's being
made. One other constant seems to be garlic and almost none contain sugar.
Other additions tend to be regional.

Google is NOT my friend. I hate google. Google is notorious for
linking people to spam sites and of course they appear to be in love
with ebay because no matter what you search for, you will get linked
to ebay. Google sucks big time. There are far better search engines.

Then quit [censored]' and use one of them.

Well, you're right. Google is not the only one and may not be the
best, but to one who uses NO search engine, it's definitely a place to
start. For them, Google may be their friend. 🙂

I did try google et al but there is no way to know which recipe to
choose. I believed posting here would give me more personal info
from people who had tried a recipe and liked it.

That's what the group is for. Anyone so sick of answering questions
that may have been asked before need not answer. If the mere sight of
the questions results in annoyance it might be time to back away from
    the computer.
