Yes, I use Firefox and Thunderbird.

IMO, the separate applications are a great improvement over the old
Mozilla suite. I haven't used IE regularly since version 3; I only
use IE locally to view web pages I've written myself.

I like Thunderbird for email, but I don't think it's great for
Usenet. It's annoying to lose your place whenever you check incoming
email. And Thunderbird hasn't got utilities for handling binary
posts.

I use XNews for news. XNews isn't configured on this box yet, which
is why I'm posting via Google.

Overall, I like Thunderbird very much.

Firefox and Thunderbird are wonderful! Make sure you get AdBlock Plus
and FlashBlock for Firefox. It makes web-browsing much more pleasant.

I switched from Eudora to Thunderbird about a year ago, and have never
looked back. I don't know about using Thunderbird as a newsreader, as
I've been using MTNewsWatcher (on Mac) for years, and have no reason to
try.

NoScript is better than FlashBlock. Kills flash, activeX & Java dead,
unless you say otherwise. Adblock is very cool though.

ScriptMonkey gives you a nice way to killfile people on google groups.
And, you can, with a click of a button, turn your killfile off, in
case you're curious. Very slick.

I'm still sitting on the fence because I like how Netscape
email/usenet works. We have one system that isn't used daily, so
I'll likely put Firefox & Thunderbird on it to test the water.

You can get a plugin for Firefox that will load same page in IE. It's
maybe 6-7kb and will put an option on the right click menu. Very
slick. Don't expect same from IE anytime soon.

Someday, I will look at Thunderbird for email, but right now, really
like Outlook, have GTD implemented in outlook, and don't really see a
need to change (except for version upgrade costs)

I recently started using Firefox and like it a lot, there is an add-on that
allows you to designate certain sites to open with the IE engine right in
FF, works great:

Combination of age and lack of exposure/attention to alternative software, I
