  1. B&M no sugar added beans??

I found two flavors in my Publix. Splenda is used as the sweetener.

Bold & Zesty is 13 gms net carbs a 1/2 cup serving.
Homestyle also has 13 gms a 1/2 cup serving

I also have a can of Edens Organic kidney beans. They claim 8 gms
    (18-10) per 1/2 cup serving.

This would be wonderful to put in a big pot of chili.

    All input welcome!!

    TIA

  5. Well, I hope they get them soon! We leave Florida on the 12th May,
spending most of the summer puttering around areas of New England with
the motorhome. We have two or three weeks in Ohio, prior traveling
eastwards. I just can't wait to get out of Florida!!

  7. Beans don't belong in chili.

  8. Some one had posted that the Carb count on the can was already Net
carbs. This would mean those of us who would then deduct the fiber count
were actually deducting it a 2nd time. I called the Eden food company
and talked to their customer service people myself. Should you wish to
call for yourself, the Phone number is 888-424-3336 The lady said
absolutly NOT the case. She said an independant lab does the test ant
that there are truely 8 carbs less 7 fiber leaving 1 carb per 1/2 cup.
Thus 3.5 carbs per can. YEA! I Love beans.

Gill, natural groceries all have them in my area. In a pinch, when not
on the road, you could order them online, from netrition.com or
    somewhere else.

WE only have one natural food store that I am aware of here in my area,
and they don't have them, The grocery chain (Publix) has some Eden
items, but not the canned black beans. I guess I shall make that a focal
point of my wanderings this summer! Hubby LOVES beans, and I let him
have a small amount once in a while, as a treat! I plan to try him on
the B&M no-sugar beans this week, and see how they work. He is no longer
checking after meals, so we will see what his labs show tomorrow, after
his 6 monthly Dr visit. he is a T2 diabetic. Maybe he will check more
    often; nagging never helps!

If he's no longer checking after meals, what *is* he checking? Post
prandial numbers are the ones most indicative of complications or not.

If your grocery is already stocking the Eden brand, just ask them to
order the black soybeans for you.

Susan, damn little. He does a morning fasting, and if he feels "strange"
he will immediately check. Tomorrow's results will be interesting. I am
hoping it all looks OK, because diabetes is only part of the medical
problems. Hyperlipidemia being the other. When I say his lipids were
    high, they were really HIGH!!

Ex-Med tech spouse, but I know better than to push too hard.

I guess all you can do is grit your teeth and keep smiling, huh?

Hyperlipidemia and DM are the same problem, metabolically speaking, but
    you probably knew that.

    Yup,

Although I am now 70, and it is a long time since I was in the very
active work-field, I can relate. I can also say that my super-strict
low-carb regimen made a miraculous diffence with the lipid results. Now,
to say what the last six-monthe have wrought!

Let's just say it's "understood" that only Yankees put beans in chili.
