I traditionally make hot cross buns around Easter. This year I'd forgotten all about it until last night at the neighborhood dinner when my next-door neighbor asked, "So when are the hot cross buns getting baked?" "Be-da, be-da, be-da," I mumbled, "I'll need to get some Craisins." (I almost never have the traditional currants in the house, and NEVER use candied fruit and peel.) Next-door neighbor walked into her kitchen and retrieved a HUGE bag of Craisins she'd bought at Costco: "Use whatever you need." I can take a hint, especially when it's delivered with a sledgehammer. So I will start some dough before I head off on my ride to get bike accoutrements.
I haven't figured out what we'll have for dinner tonight, but rest assured that we will toast the life and postings of Pastorio tonight at 7 pm PDT.
