I just installed a new 8 speed freewheel (I know, but it's a spinergy wheel that can't change the hub)and chain on my roadbike. I've had an 8 speed Dura Ace STI for years used with a seven speed freewheel with few problems until lately when the shifts became erratic, and I spun off the lockring cog, so decided to upgrade to 8 speed. I used the same combo 13-21 as the seven speed and cut the new chain the same length as the old, but now have worse shifting, and a wierd chain rubbing noise coming from the back derailleur/freewheel. Anyone have any suggestions?

smooth shifting (unless it is a Shimano freewheel). Also, I highly recommend using a 8 speeds
Shimano chain.
