That's what I'd do and I've hit 45+ on the SB going down the east side of
Dallas Divide on CO 62 (way past being spun out on the 44x11)

of Dallas Divide on CO 62 (way past being spun out on the 44x11)

He got up to speed very quickly. In fact, he was behind the other guy
in the video. The other two had full storm trooper gear and he was all
XC (120mm). The other guy though he was being a wise ass when he blew
by him.

I can't imagine what I would have done in that situation.

He looked like he was going stupid fast, especially as the trail
looked to bend almost 90 degrees based on where the camera holder was
standing. The fact that conditions were dry and the trail looked flat
doesn't sound like it would have allowed him to make a sharp left at
that speed.

Reminds me of myself....

I was once meeting some friends in a park to camp there overnight. I
had a big backpack on, with maybe 30-40lbs worth of stuff in it (tent,
bag, booze...). I was heading down a loose, sandy, steep downhill
alongside a fence. There's an opening in the fence through which the
trail makes a hard, bankless left. I didn't account well for the
weight on my back, which not only increased the braking distance but
also crept up my back threatening to endo me if I hit the brakes too
hard. Not a good combo.

I wound up launched off the trail into the trees. Comical.

It does make a sharp bend where the guy was filming. If he didn't bail
where he did, all bets are off as to what would have been his physical
condition. They were already looking for a place to land the life flight.
