  1. I was cycling this morning after a three day lay off on my trainer. My cadence was 80-100 rpm. I was clipping pretty good. When I stopped I took my pulse it was only 112 and dropped to 66 at the two minute mark.

It is usually 136-144 at similar cadence and conditions is this something abnormal?

I had no dizziness, cehst pain, palpitations, etc. I felt fine, actually, I felt very good. Any thoughts?

Yeah, assuming you were holding a similar cadence in the same gear on the same trainer then you were rested that's what happens when you improve fitness and get some rest, you put out the same power but don't work as hard doing it. Don't ever worry about lower than usual HR, don't even worry about higher than usual HR if you feel good. Lots of things can influence your HR from emotion to hydration so it can be really misleading but in general a lower HR for the same effort means you've improved your fitness or you are well rested or both. Of course if you were riding the trainer in a lower gear at that same cadence well then you were just doing less work.

Focusing on cadence and HR really isn't the best way to go. If you're riding a trainer how about focusing on speed by using a computer with a rear wheel sensor. On most trainers speed relates fairly well to power which is the best thing to track. If you only have cadence to work with then make sure you use the same gears every workout until they start feeling too easy and then step up and start using the next highest gear......

Appreciate the advice. I asked my wife she's a cardiac nurse and has worked on a transplant team. When I told her she laughed then she told her boss, who is a cardiologist, she laughed as well.

Stupid question, so I withdraw my question. Please, smack me around as the noob! :o

My god it was a joke, buy a sense of humor or can't you tell without a smiley face. Speaking of trolls!

I was kidding as well. But, a bit of advice lay off the energy drinks, the caffeine is making you a little edgy.

Nah, I'm just sarcastic. I think it has something to do with being a liberal arts major in college. You know, annoying enough to know a little about everything, but not knowing enough about one subject to bank some real coin.
