Just purchased my first road real road bike. Its a 2007 Schwinn Le Tour and love it! This is also my first 'pricey' bike.
Unfortunately my shiny super sport was stolen last week and though i was sad this replacement has made me much happier. I dont think I will be commuting or locking this bike up since i will be using this for training and riding around town, no pit stops.
On another note, is there bicycle insurance? and whats the toughest lock out there? If i do decide to lock up i want the toughest!
Pretty sweet bike! I'm still dreaming of my first road bike . . . *faraway look*
As for insurance, if you have a homeowners or renters policy, ask your agent what's covered. My bike is covered under my renters insurance but it cost less than the deductable.
I know the feeling - a new bike is something else. I got myself a Pinarello 4:13 last year but initially I was having a lot of grief with the LOOK clipless pedals and fell off twice before I replaced them with Shimano SPD's. Pic attached!
No offense to the OP, of course! Congrats on your new bike!
Thanks a million mate, it is a beautiful machine to ride. I was pottering around on my Marin Eldridge Grade MTB for years, then last year I finally got my PhD and decided to treat myself to a really good road bike. The MTB was like a sure-footed mountain goat, the Piranello is like being on a thoroughbred racehorse! Just back from a 15 mile (24 km) ride this evening which I did in 59 minutes. Not bad for an old greybeard of 49! All the best,
