Give it a try. My experience with my Trek wireless is that the sensor angle and pick-up angle are real touchy. My unit stopped working with only a sporatic reading and I bought new batteries. Same thing with the new battery. I rotated the sensor a tiny bit and everything started working again.

I have never owned a Cateye or Trek bur every computer that I have owned had the sensor mounted on the right side in front of the fork. I have never had any problems with them. To be honest, I can't remember ever seeing a sensor mounted behind the fork, but it may be that I just never noticed.

Yeah, it's weird but the directions to the Cateye say to mount it behind the fork. THen I noticed that all the pros had their sensors mounted in front. I just did a 35 mile ride with it mounted in the front and everything worked great. 😕
