Every two months I attend a local cycle forum meeting, it takes up to 20 minutes to cycle there,
best time was 16 minutes on my Wizard 2 wheeler, last night it took me 9 minutes to get there and
just over 10 to get back, on 3 wheels of best American Catrike, don't know if I was supercharged on
a one off last night but that is a huge difference.

Wow that is a big difference. How are the Catrike's sell over there? I finally had the chance to buy
one for pretty cheap and jumped on it. It's my journalistic responsibility and all that. ;-) It's a
slightly used 2003 model. I'll pick it up in the middle of November while I'm back in the States.

They are being received very well, but this time of year is not the best to gauge sales, I am
currently running a 2004 framed model with 2003 front hubs(but with 349 rims), headsets and handle
bars, the new frame reduces brake steer and takes the twitchyness out that some people report, I am
using Stelvios at the moment but will switch to Marathons for the bulk of the winter. Euro spec
includes Hope hydraulic disc brakes, Sram rear mech, and grip shifters and Capagnolo Centaur bb and
30-42-53 crankset, although all things going to plan I will be running a Schlumpf High Speed Drive
towards the end of next week.

The question is why are the bikes in the UK equipped with hydraulic brakes, whereas the US trikes
have mechanical brakes. The mechanical brakes are super.

IanWhat was the distance and average speed?
It is just over 4.5 miles quite hilly will a .5 mile downhill at the end going there, my previous
normal average was about 14 mph, strangely usually the same coming back, even though there is more
climbing on the return route, best average speed in the past one way was just under 17 mph,
admittedly the Wizard was a heavy bike, more touring orientated, but on Monday night, riding a
lightweight trike I averaged 30 mph going there and 25 mph on the return journey, now I know I do
not have to put my feet down at all, but it is a huge difference, I'm putting it down to a fluke at
the moment.

Hope Hydraulics are made in the U.K. and are excellent brakes, I spec the European model so it gets
kit I know and like and kit that is easily serviced in the EU market place.

I'm curious about one thing. If I convert 17 mph to kph I get a value of 27 and change. Is it
possible that the difference is in the units?

What? Riding in the dark has converted the 4.5 mile route into a 4.5 km route? Too interspacial for
me. If you are asking about computer readout, I have only fitted one back on today, did not have it
the other day.
