  1. So, I was moving along with traffic yesterday going slightly faster due to congestion; when a car (well... SUV) turned a quick right about 5ft in front of me w/out signalling. I can bet you know what happened next!

Ass over tea-kettle I went trying to throw myself around to the left just to end up crashing on my BUTT.

I was transported to Hospital because they feared lower back/tailbone damage; a few X-rays and a few hours later I was released with severe bruising on my tuckas!

Need to have the bike checked at the LBS (a job for today), and start dealing with police reports and insurance (yay 🙁 ).

Hey, If I can crash without breaking anything I am ecstatic, I can live with bruising anytime 😉 ! so here is my smile 😄 !!

    be careful out there!
    any other stories to share?

  2. Glad you are OK! I've been lucky, but I also don't ride nearly as much as many others on here - this will be my first 100+ mile week (150 miles this week) in years, probably, but I do have a 25 mile commute each way to work that I'm trying to do at least twice a week, and on that route even just this morning I encountered a couple idiots who didn't see me AT ALL.

Hey, look, it's a 6'4" guy with a bright orange jersey and a bright orange backpack - let's look straight through him! :p

  3. awesome story, glad your okay, can you still ride? I've never been hit, yet, I have fallen, never hurt though. whats the damage on your bike?

  4. Glad you're OK. Here in Ohio they occasionally try to run over you for sport, and the police can't do anything about it, even if you have the license plate number. If it does not happen 2 feet in front of the cop's face, there is no proof that it happened at all, even though 20 other people witnessed it. OK, I'm being slightly cynical but it pisses me off!!!😠

  5. shifters are damaged; can't shift f/d... I'm sore as a mutha so I'm off the bike for a few days after a short ride today.

now to do the insurance thing.

  6. The only crash I've had so far is... oh [censored] unclip please get unclipped then fall down o/mph crash oh yeah! The only thing I've hit so far is a chipmunk, ran under my front wheel, I was riding second row back on the inside lane of a double paceline no room for error so just ran over it, sorry little guy.

  7. Glad to hear you're OK. Did the driver at least stop to check your well being?

In many municipalities you have the ability to sign the witness box of a police officer's traffic citation to attest to a legitimate traffic violation that an officer did not himself witness. You're then, of course, required to appear in traffic court as the complaining witness.

It's not always possible to get you, a policeman, and the offending driver together at the same time to accomplish this because in most cases the driver is long gone, but it does happen.
