  1. I recently moved from the Raleigh-Durham area in North Carolina to
Chicago. I live in downtown Chicago. I'm looking for some 50-mile
bike routes. It would be great if you could provide specific
    directions and cue sheets.

I've been on the Lakefront path and the North Branch trail. The
Lakefront path is too congested and it's difficult to maintain a
constant speed on the North Branch trail as it's narrow, curvy, and
covered with trees. I also rode up Sheridan Road to Lake Forest
University. This wasn't bad once you get past the city and past the
horrible streets with potholes in Evanston and Wilmette. I guess I've
been spoiled, riding in North Carolina.

Any recommendations of good routes on roads in decent condition would
be appreciated! Lists of cycling events and stores rides too! Thanks
    so much!

And be sure to attend classes to extend your riding season.

If you hang around Daley plaza on the last Friday of the month until
6:00pm, you will have a few friends to ride with. But hurry, this
ride has been scheduled to permanently end in September.
