For those of you who live in the San Francisco bay area and like to do a butt kicking ride you might want to try the BOB.

This ride is set up so that you take BART's early train to Orinda, start the ride and finish in Fremont. Aside from the usual rest stops along the way they also have a great meal at Sweet Tomatoes at the end as part of your entry fee. And they also hand you a BART ticket to get back to Orinda BART as well so that if you drove you can pick your car up again.
The ride covers a lot of the same climbs and ground that was used in the first Tour of California except the climb up Sierra Grade is optional. By the time you get there with 80+ miles in your legs a lot of people decide that doing Sierra Grade is perhaps best left for next year.

Are you checking to see whether or not it's safe to go on this ride?

I have a tour up in Washington at the same time so I won't be making this ride.
