There's something about the way it looks that just doesn't appeal to me,
I think it's the completely straight frame. Looks like a good choice,

provokes exactly the same reaction in me, despite the fact that otherwise
it ticks so many of my boxes.

Monoblade: check.
Enclosed transmission: check.
Low unsprung weight: check...

But the straight boom just looks wrong. If you're going to lay the seat
back enough to get decent aerodynamics, you're going to have your own feet
slap in the middle of the horizon, which doesn't do a lot for forward
visibility.

Still, I feel a need to visit Darth Ben.

Enjoy! In theory not a million miles from my old Orbit
Crystal/Speed Ross, on which I had a tremendous amount of fun (and
used it as a general purpose bike too).

It's that seat - the huge soft squishy base is out of proportion with the
rest. Of it. And when I have tried such seats I found them desparately
uncomfortable in very short order...

I quite liked the sinuous curve of Optimas, but the Bacchetta has a
purposeful simplicity.

So far I'm comfortable on it, but its easily changed, and anyway, I can't
see it when I sit on it.

Isn't it inevitable that you see your feet and a fair chunk of bike bits? I
can certainly see all I need and want. Beats staring at the road a few feet
in front of your wheel.

Its great. Faster than the damn electric bike on even first outing. It
responds so much to a push on the pedals, unlike that lumpish pig. If I had
gone to it straight from my other bikes I perhaps would not have appreciated
this quite so much.
