Hi everyone, new member here. Got my Mom into a Sun Tadpole trike last fall and she loves it. Wanted to get her a cycle computer lately but all I find have wires that are too short. Noticed wireless ones the other day and asked local shop about them today. When I mentioned to the guy that it was for a recumbent trike due to the long wire that would be rewuired, he says it's still no good as the transmit range for the wireless is extremely short; on the order of 1.5 to 2 feet. Never read this myself anywhere, anyone know for sure? If the range is indeed short for the cheaper ones (budget is small and really she doesn't need all the gimmicks), what are my options? Could I solder an extension into the middle of a wired unit? The wristwatch types of wireless ones are obviously a great choice for this application. Anybody seen any that DON'T have every option under the sun and cost more than the arm you want to wear it on? She really only needs a speedo and odo and maybe a clock readout. Backlight would be nice but not necessary. As to the mounts, this is a recurring problem with any accessory. I'd like to attach stuff to the seat tubes and stays of the Easy-Racers type seat as well as to the frame tubes. Trouble is that the seat tubes are too skinny for standard mount hardware and the frame tube too fat. What are some options you-all have come up with over the years? Right now I'm thinking of some P-clips with rubber-coated openings from an electronics store or something.

Check Sigma cycle computers - you can order a "rear wheel kit" for them which has long wires. Didn't need it on my Bacchetta, but use it for the motorcycles 🙂
I tried a wireless one once, but they are set up for angles that work on DFs but not so well on bents.
Above link shows the one I was looking for. $23 gets you the computer and mount with extended wiring for 'bent's and strollers. You have to look in the stroller section and I don't think I would have ever thought of that.

Check with your local bike shop if you can just get the rear wheel kit. It fits all Sigma computers so you can get the exact one you want. Mine has cadence for example.
I bought it from www.phantomcycles.com.au I don't think they mention rear wheel kits on the website, but if you email them and ask they will sell you one.

Spoke too soon. They don't ship outside the US and there are no local dealers. Don't appear to be any Canadian dealers that sell online either. Nashbar sells the next one up in the option list + the rear-wheel cabling kit for about $30 US. Probably get it from there. Have to measure the trike as they say the cable is 120cm. Might be enough...

The Hostel Shoppe link was a good one. They have a Cateye kit for about $30 US and ship internationally from their website.
I ended up ordering from Sigma anyway. I guess they monitor these groups a little because the sales manger sent me an email asking me to give him a call and he would work things out. I guess they don't have everything set up for international web sales as yet. He did it all over the phone and the shipping rate as quoted was very good (around $5 or so). Should be here in a week or so.
Based on my experience with them so far, I guess they deserve a pretty good recommendation, huh? If anything goes awry I'll let you guys know.
Got it in the mail the other day. Looks great and should fit the trike just fine. $23 US delivered. Would certainly recommend these guys based on service.
