I made a digital camera mount for my bike 🙂 Battery life was probably
worse though, as it kept turning off after going over a bump!

I'm thinking about getting one of these. I noticed in the video
that the number plate on the car in front was unreadable, is it
any better at other settings for reading number plates?

At full resolution it might stand a chance. I wonder if using the
higher frame rate results in a less compressed image that might also
have better quality.

You just need to install Hollywood OS on your computer. Then you can
computer enhance the images and read not only the numberplate but also
the small print of the manufacturer and the fingerprints of the man that
installed them ;-)

If you want to be able to read numberplates and the like I think a
digicam fired on a timelapse setting is a better bet.

set of 2700mAH AA rechargables.

of them. They were where I keep new batteries, but not in a packet, so I

I suspect that with decent image enhancing software, altering contrast,
and combining frames it could be possible to get number plates from
footage like this. But it would only be worth the effort if you had had
a nasty collision or something. :-(

Looks neat. nb on the SD cards, I believe there is a new format for SD
cards, so the older SD cards are on the way out, but also getting v
cheap.

YOu can get 4gb cards under 30squids at Amazon, which, considering 1gb
cards were costing more than that 12 months ago, is neat. As with a
lot of tech these days, it's the battery life that lets things down.

Not pay you to take them away but 7dayshop has 2Gb (max for this
camera) at 7.99 (or 15.49 for kingston elite pro) +3.95P&P

And the huge win for 7dayshop (IMO) is that they send it all first
class post so no need to arrange for someone to be in.

I have had one order almost completely go missing with them - one item
arrived, nothing else did. It takes a long time before they'll refund
the money but they did eventually without quibble, they just made me
wait IIRC 30 days just in case the item was delayed in the post or had
been returned to them.

However, about a week after they finally refunded the money I received
one more of the one item that had successfully been delivered (I
returned it to them) - so I suspect there had actually been a cockup
on their end and it had never gone missing in the post at all. (extra
that was delivered claimed to be part of the same order on the packing
note)

I've probably made a dozen or more orders with them and that is the
only one I've had a problem with. The only other minor quibble is that
sometimes their website will say instock when it isn't - usually I
wouldn't really care but on one occasion I had about three different
items to chose from and because I wanted it ASAP I chose the one that
was in stock although it wasn't so I still had a two week wait.
Unfortunately for them, this was the cheapest of the three but not the
one I would have bought if all three had been marked as out of stock -
and I'd presume they make more profit on the more expensive items.

The low battery warning came on after about 30min with what
I thought were new Duracell Procells.
The rest of the cells in the box all read >1.45v under a 0.5A
load which suggests they are new.

I've heard duracells aren't terribly good with some digital equipment -
NiMHs have been known to offer rather longer lifetimes even with nominally
lower capacity.
