  1. Why are these drug testsnot performed right there in front of the cyclist, team director, and of course lawers. Then there would alot less chance of tampering. With all thats on the line, careers, money, there good or bad name, I would demand it!

  2. How about live broadcast of testing?

S: "Good afternoon dear viewers, we're live broadcasting testing of urine samples taken from cyclists yesterday after the gruelling stage to Zoncolan which also included another 150 kms. of climbing with total vertical difference of, about, 20000 meters.
    .
    .
    .
And now testosterone... Chemist is shaking and stirring test tube with the sample and...
    It passed, it passed!!!
    .
    .
    .
Next is EPO...But first commercials... We'll be back soon after the break.
    .
    .
    .
We're back live in Chatenay-Malabry laboratory, we're asking chief biochemist if he thinks rider's sample will pass EPO test?"
B: "Well, it may pass EPO, but I don't think it will pass blood transfusion test which is next... After the break."
    .
    .
    .
S: "We're back live in broadcast of cyclists' sample testing.
    Ultimate test...
Blood transfusion... Riders think they can't be caught, but does the staff of Chatenay-Malabry know something we don't, do they have some new, reliable test...? We'll see soon, after the break."

Imagine interest of pharmaceutical companies for advertising, imagine tension in riders' and DS's eyes...
It could be really really thrilling stuff to watch... And commercial too.

  3. Good coverage! There is one flaw in this - the cyclist could still switch their urine before it gets to testing. So we'd better cover that live, too...

Paul, it's a beautiful afternoon out here by the sample tent. The crowd is lining the path, and a few excited spectators are relieving themselves into water bottles with their favorite team's logo.

Yes, Phil. I can't say this was my favorite part of competition, but it certainly was one of the less strenuous. After several hours of gripping the handlebars, the activity came rather naturally.

Excuse me, Paul. We have some activity in the tent now. The first rider has reached into his shorts, and... oh dear, he seems to be in a spot of bother.

You know, Phil - when I was riding we never had that problem. We were real men.

(sudden roar from the crowd) Paul, the crowd has gone wild! A legend of the sample tent has just appeared. It's everyone's favorite, it's the Eddy Merckx of urine samples, the seven time champion... it's Tom Boonen!

    Very good, very good...
This coverage could come before upper coverage, like Telegraphe, Galibier and Madeleine before Alpe d' Huez.
Or in Giro case, San Pellegrino and Giau before Tre Cime Lavaredo.
It would be one of those whole day long live coverages.

  5. There is no flaw! I mean with all thats at stake I would let them watch me [censored]. And then they would test with me still standing there. This may sound funny, but I would stop most tampering.

    Man, you are pornography.
We are trying here to make just an old-style soap opera.
    Something like Dinasty.😄

  7. I bet if Mr.Landis could go back, watch them test the urine he just made, he'd do it. The only way to tamper with it would if the test kit was altered to give a pos. result everytime. Besides who has'nt showed the goods to a Dr. with out thinking about it.If your clean, why not!

what tampering? please show me proof that there was tampering and not pr spin from flandis camp !

  9. Prove there is not.YES some cyclist take drugs to perform better, some do not . If I was a pro and did not I would want to make damn sure there were no tampering.

  10. Lawyers? Hasn't this week proven that we should remove the lawyers from the process entirely? Shouldn't everything merely be reviewed by a few impartial scientists? The lawyers only add PR spin and smoke and mirrors.

As for the tampering, Armstrong is the one who originally claimed that the French lab tampered with his six, yes six, positive EPO tests. Floyd isn't even creative in his arguments. Neither one of them has any evidence of tampering.

At least Hamilton's missing twin argument was creative and entertaining. Armstrong and Landis are just pathetic.

well you got to admit that the whole manager calling the witness the night before did put an um new spin on the whole thing. ANd then of course, his pathetic defense of saying that it;s because he had a few beers, and that the whole world was after poor defenseless Landis....

    okay pathetic is the word

So how can anyone prove that there was no tampering?
The onus lies on Landis to prove his assertion.

Oh Jesus...Stevebaby's just entered the tent...Get a bucket, somebody! MAKE THAT TWO BUCKETS!!!

That's easy. If a rider tests negative then there was no tampering. If a rider tests positive then there was tampering.

so if a rider decides that he doesn't want to be filmed while um providing his sample is it because he's doping or egads is it because he's not well endowed? which rumor would a rider prefer to be going round ?

    😉

Of course. How could I have forgotten?
I must have had a couple of beers.
    😄
    Silly me.

  17. Tampering a sample is difficult. On the race, the rider only act under the view of doctor. All containers used are sealed before using it.For everything athlete has to choice one amongst many others. He choices a bottle, two samples sealed too. He [censored] in the "bottle", then he fills samples with his own [censored] and then seals its, signs, fills in paper form,.. Then samples are send to lab.
A samples could eventualy tampered because of not one is present to watch lab's work. But for B samples, witnesses are present, so it's extremely difficult to tamper its.
A lab has no motivation to tamper samples, even to cover an error, the outcome would be dramatic. If they are caught, all precedent positive athletes could sue them, the lab would be closed, implicated technicians would never find a job in a lab, ...

If you were a pro and did not, you'd be the only one.

  19. From what I heard, it wasn't that difficult for riders to tamper. Remember the enzyme soap on the hand trick, to eliminate EPO? They only caught on to that when samples showed no EPO at all, not even naturally occurring.

I still say the sample giving should be made public. Hell, if cycling is going to be turned into a freak show, let's make it entertaining.

    Yes, I agree.
The ride who is the only one who can tampered his sample. To avoid the tampering by athlete: washing-cleaning hands, weeny (I have learnt this word recently), uretra,...
But athletes could eventualy tampered their urine inside their body previously.
