I've been using this same model chain for about a year. It's been as good as any other. Some older KMC chains were absolute [censored], but these days they're great.
The 8sp one on my MTB has been great too. In fact it's half of a tandem chain that I bought for under $10.

How did you know to ask for that lower price? Was it in a catalog or something?

When they change prices on an item, it first shows up on the product description page- the category page with all the other chains can take a day sometimes to update. Some stupid old school scripting program they run on that side of the office. Call Customer Service, they will match it.

It's possible that the price was in the process of going up, not down, when the OP came across the item. Thus, when Nashbar finished the change, it was $14.99, not $9.99.
Bear in mind that Nashbar uses price to adjust inventory levels. When they sold off enough of those chains @ $9.99, the price reverted to $14.99.
