Hi, I want to get a new bike to ride leisurely (after work around the
park or so). Anyone have good recommendations? I am looking at the K2
women's crosswind...I don't know what the difference is with Trek?
Also, what do I need to look for? (the bike folks at REI haven't been
helpful at all!)
My price range is about $300-$400.

Yes, be sure to buy a woman's bike with womens' tires, womens' wheels,
womens' seat and womens' handlebars. Then all you need to do is find
a womens' road on a womens' planet, and you'll be all set!

The Electra Amsterdam is a bit over the price range you want, it's about
$550 but then it comes with a lot already--3-speed hub, generator
lights, coat and full chain guard, fenders and a rack. You couldn't add
all that onto a $400 bike for only $150. The pedals are shifted forwards
somewhat, comfort-bike style.
All that's missing to make it useful is baskets (a bicycle becomes a LOT
more useful if you can easily carry things on it). Get a basket on the
handlebars first, and if you need more room get a pair on the back.
