But why would Euro pro cycling take a hit? The players are
interchangeable. Last year the Tour lost LANCE to retirement
and Basso and Ullrich to Op Puerto and the race never even
missed them. We had the best race with more drama and
uncertainty than we've had in years.

That's what the doping hand wringers are missing. If Barry
Bonds died tomorrow his sport would still go on without
him, as doped up as ever. It is the spectacle that draws
the fans, and the fantasy of honest competition is too
resilient.

record book and started deciding which of his HRs didn't happen then we'd have a
situation like cycling.

it causes enough people to stop showing up on mountain passes

overturned because of a doping test result. It didn't matter.

I second that!

When someone is lining up their picks for the 2063 Giro (on who knows
what kind of "device"...who knows, maybe the Giro will start in
Disneyland that year) do you think he/she will give a rats ass who's
dog is named Birillo, or what Operation what-have-you meant???? Only
a very small group endure over the years, and Hamilton, Basso and
Urlich are definately not on the short list. You'd have a better
chance of being remembered if you rode the Zonocolan naked versus
testing positive for the 2007 Giro or TdF.
