I've been cruising ebay so I'm trying to date some of the bikes/frames there. Between the current
site and the VintageTrek site there is about 10 years (1990-2000). I purchased a 1000 that is gray
with yellow decals and I was trying to date it.

Try sending flowers to her at work, then phoning.
OK. I stepped into that! LOL!

I believe that's around 1986-1988 time frame. Sold a number of them. The version of shifter (I
believe Shimano on that one) will help with the dating, but I may be able to get the date just via
model number and color.

Have you contacted TREK themselves? Often, companies are good at helping out their customers with
basic information like that. I've had companies go so far as to send me a copy of the owners manual.
Bear archery even offered to buy an old recurve bow of mine when I dated it through them, since they
didn't possess one of that year and model.
Good luck,
C.Q.C.

-snip-
1985/6 I think (?, Mike would know better). Check the date stamp on your SR-Sakae stem and seatpost.
