My original bontrager tires that came with my madone had nice gold ones, but the one in front is silver now.

Not to worry, different tubes, different stems. Depends on the manufacturer.

Edit to say: the stem is part of the tube so, yes, it must be changed.

O okay, i didnt know that. That valve thing is part of the tube under the top part of the tire thingy?(if that makes any sense) Wish it was golden tho, looks much sexier =)

Repairing or replacing a tube is one of the first things a cyclist should learn to do and completing the task for the first time can be very rewarding. I would suggest learning it, it can and will save you a lot of grief.

thats what i hear, just ima wait until i join the cities bike club and make some friends. The lbs here is very busy and i dont wanna waste their time in teaching me how. do you know any online tutorials smoke or ny 1 else? I was looking at the bike reparie book by bicycle magazine, is that a good investment?

Thats one of the two I have and the one I always recommend.
