time. I still remember my father's ranting and raving about the
ridiculous amount of money I had spent on a bicycle with no lights, no
fenders, and those skinny tires. Lots of fond memories, but I still
wouldn't pay $1K for one today.

Usual Ebay prices are $200-$250 for a nicely preserved frame,
$300-$500 for a nicely preserved original complete. I've seen some
very early models or very pristine bikes for $500-$800 (really unique
or mint).
Sometimes people just bid stupidly. I once saw a guy pay over $100 for
a single weinmann caliper that started at $10. Of course, to pay that
price, someone else had to bid almost that high. I emailed him
afterwards to ask him if he knew something about it I didn't (Made of
gold? Owned by Jimi Hendrix?). He told me he wanted to make sure he
got it, so threw in a snipe bid of $100. Unfortunately for him,
another dolt did the same thing that day. LOL.Perhaps the PX10 bidders were a similar collection of dolts.

course) in 1972, particularly after I wrestled open the head set and all
those tiny little bearings rolled on to the ground -- or when I tried to
mount a Campy rear derailleur for which I had spent my entire pizza parlor
pay for a week, $35. I can understand falling in love with an old Masi or
De Rosa, etc., but the PX10 was a distant second choice even back in the
day. Now, with the demise of French-standard components (meaning components
with tiny bearings, odd sized threads, bizarre diameters), you could make
yourself miserable trying to get that bike up and running. I still have a
puller for that Stronglight crank, which, of course is not the same thread
pitch/diameter as either a standard crank puller or a TA. I will sell it to
the new owner for $Zillion, ala current Ebay fashion. At least that one
probably does not have French threaded pedals and freewheel. Sorry Andrew, I
was not a PX10 fan. -- Jay Beattie.
Well, with that attitude you probably wouldn't like working on a Citroen
either!
(of course I no longer _own_ one, just think they're cute. That
opinion's enhanced by a little 'tincture of time'😉
