  1. I live far from a repair shop, so I'm hoping to make this adjustment myself...

Whenever I get out of the saddle going uphill, my chain ring guide pushes me to the smaller chain rings. If I'm on top, it goes to the middle and if I'm on the middle ring, it goes to the granny gear.

Does anybody know a quick fix for this? I have a race on Saturday (4/28).

  2. By "Chain Ring Guide" do you mean front deraileur? It would be odd if this was only happening when you are climbing. if it was a loose cable connection, it wouldn't work right after the first slip. If you are using a friction shifter for the front, you might try adding some tension to it. The only other thing that I can think of is that you are somehow relieving the tension on the front shift cable when you begin a climb.

  3. Did you changed you bottom bracket before this started happening? If your chain line is altered this can cause "autoshifting" under heavy load.
