Lumotec headlight on Brompton

I've actually abandoned my round Lumotec in favour of a non-standlight
Basta, but it's a long and silly story. There wasn't /quite/ enough
room for the Lumotec, and this caused various degrees of electrical
erosion over time and the damn thing wasn't reliable, so I thought that
Brom's own would be the Way Forwards. On the blower to Biketrax, and
the next day a Basta duly appears... and is the same size as the B&M and
doesn't quite bloody fit. Bah! Back on the blower to Biketrax, and
they are Bemused. Hmmmm, I think my bracket ios the Proper Article, but
I'm not 101% sure as it came out of the Kinetics Bits Box, so they send
me a new one, and it is indeed the same as mine. Back on the 'phone,
even more bemused.
After a bit of frustrated howling, I decide to see if the brackets are
really the same or just look that way, and mine actually ran a few
degrees steeper, and that made all the difference between any of the
lamps rubbing against the bag frame or not. Back on the 'phone to
explain what it was, and that I am now a Happy Camper. But ICBA to
change the Basta (since what caused the problems for the B&M were
probably not its fault), so I've now got a manual standlight in the form
of a 1 LED flasher which sits on the bars and I can operate with my thumb.

Moral: if your bracket is slightly out of spec it will make a few mm
difference and that's enough to bugger everything up.

Or, if a non-standlight Basta is okay just order the new Brom with the
now standard option of the SON XS hub and it'll have one fitted when it
lands.

Having had standlights for a while I was a bit nervous of not having
one, but it's a non-problem as it turns out and there's always the
manual 1 LED alternative for a few quid which also gives you a removable
and independent Just Inb Case tocrhlette

Yes, but you would be better of with a non-plus version. Unless matters
have improved unexpectedly, the standlight is dark yellow, the switch

Basically the choice I had was to wait weeks for a new B or buy the M3L
the local bike shop had and get one _right now_, with the other bits and
bobs coming from SJS or similar. I went for the latter, and that does mean
I can mix and match.

Nope sorry.

I have an Inoled 20+ headlight on my Brompton and it's very nice. The
original bracket was too small, so I got a longer one which has the light
well in front of the luggage block.

The angle of the bracket is very important, not only for not rubbing on
the luggage or the luggage block, but also depending on what light you
want, high or low. It's not rocket science, but also non-trivial to
getting the most out of your light.

I've ordered the Schmidt bracket for adding their E6 to a Brompton, on the
basis that the E6 seems to be a very similar size and shape. Failing that,
I've got a whole collection of brackets; failing that, I've got a friend
with a workshop who knows what she's doing.
