Just registered with this forum after seeing AAArgh posting here about Halfords Shockwave SUS500 mountain bike for 80 squids which I had considered buying.
OK-cards on the table--- I have'nt owned a bike in twenty years but have hired mountain bikes to ride around non-challenging lakeside rides, old railway track paths, etc. Now I want to save money by buying my own machine rather than keep on hiring one... and I'm relatively poor so do'nt even think of telling me to go buy a £2,000 aluminium wonder bike.
What is so [censored] about the shockwave,(apologies for my complete biking naivety)?? I could just stretch to a Giant Rock at £135- is that miles better?
Wouldnt be used on the road much-just tracks like I mentioned, not up Mount Everest. And mostly weekend use only.
All and any advice gratefully received before I spend what little dosh I have-Previous experience of Halfords,(them cocking up the fitting of an in car mobile phone), not terribly good. The Giant Rock is on sale at Wilco, not Halfords and is also a special offer.
